Jamie Carragher and Roy Keane cast doubt on Benjamin Sesko's Man Utd prospects after £74m transfer

 WHAT HAPPENED?

Sesko swapped RB Leipzig for United in a £74 million ($99.5m) transfer earlier this month, with the Red Devils hoping he can ease their goalscoring problems. However, former players Carragher, Keane, and Jill Scott are not sure he will hit the ground running at Old Trafford.

WHAT CARRAGHER AND KEANE SAID

On the latest episode of Stick to Football, the panel was asked if Sesko will be a hit or a miss at United.

Former England international Scott began by saying: "I am going to go not sure. But not putting it all on him, I think it's the team he is going into as well. I think United fans have to be patient with him."

United legend Keane added, "Yeah, me too. Of course," before Liverpool icon Carragher echoed their sentiments.

"I am not sure. I think he is better than [Rasmus] Hojlund but there is just so much focus on United. So many young players have failed because of the magnitude and size of the club. We've talked about [them] coming seventh this season... you are still going to lose a lot of games," he added.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

Sesko will be under intense pressure to succeed at United, and quickly. As Carragher alluded to, many young Red Devils recruits, such as Hojlund, have struggled under the intense scrutiny that follows the Premier League giants. The 22-year-old is very highly rated but this will be the biggest test of his young career.

WHAT NEXT?

Sesko came off the bench for his United debut in his new team's 1-0 loss to Arsenal last weekend. The Slovenian international, who stands at 6ft 5in tall, could make his first start when Amorim's team travel to Fulham in the Premier League on Sunday.
