Nostradamus' chilling AI prediction could be coming true

 Anxiety is growing over an ominous Nostradamus prediction after a prominent researcher warned that AI could wipe out humanity within the next decade.

Jacob Coxon, who announced his exit from Anthropic, the company behind Claude, warned that artificial intelligence developers are "genuinely frightened" by how rapidly the technology is advancing. He told the BBC: "I believe that if we don't slow down at the current rate of progress, there is a strong chance that we could all die in the immediate future."

Against this troubling context, focus has shifted to a five-hundred-year-old prediction from the famous mystic Nostradamus. The French prophet, who lived during the 1500s, is thought to have foreseen many significant historical events, including the 9/11 terror attacks, JFK's assassination, the Great Fire of London, and Hitler's emergence.

As fears escalate about AI's potential danger to humanity, keen observers suggest one of Nostradamus' passages hints at a coming apocalyptic event.

As with all Nostradamus predictions, interpretations differ widely due to the vague language used by the Frenchman.

In a passage labeled Century IV, Quatrain 31 from his 1555 work Les Propheties, he wrote: "The Moon in the full of night over the high mountain, the new sage with a lone brain sees it: By his disciples invited to be immortal, eyes to the south. Hands in bosoms, bodies in the fire."

Breaking this down further, believers interpret 'lone brain,' 'immortal' and 'disciples' as references to some type of computer or machine intelligence, while 'the new sage' is seen as representing technology.

Evan Hubinger, also employed by Anthropic, backed Jacob Coxon by indicating there's more than a 10% probability AI "could kill all humans" over the coming decade. Most experts haven't specified exactly how AI might wipe out humanity.

Nevertheless, Des Browne, Britain's former defense secretary, warned that superintelligent AI poses a danger "on the same, possibly a greater scale" than nuclear weapons.

Nostradamus has delivered many vague predictions that followers have interpreted as coming true. Believers reference Century 6, Quatrain 97 as evidence he foresaw the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

The passage states: "The sky will burn at forty-five degrees. Fire approached the great new city. Immediately a huge scattered flame leaps up."

Adherents argue the 'great new city' refers to New York, while the 'forty-five degrees' passage allegedly points to New York's latitude, or the angle of the planes striking the Twin Towers.

Concerning President John F. Kennedy's assassination, devotees cite Century 1, Quatrain 26, which states: "The great man will be struck down in the day by a thunderbolt. An evil deed foretold by the bearer of a petition. According to the prediction, another falls at night time."

According to this analysis, 'the great man' is understood to reference JFK, while 'the thunderbolt' symbolizes the assassin's bullet that killed him.

'The other' who falls at night is thought to indicate JFK's killer Lee Harvey Oswald, who was himself fatally shot soon after, or possibly JFK's brother Robert Kennedy, who was assassinated five years later.
